Aspects: การณ์ลักษณะ คือมุมมองของผู้พูดที่มีต่อสถานการณ์นั้น ๆ เช่นผู้พูด พูดว่าเสร็จสิ้นแล้ว กำลังเกิดขึ้น พึ่งเริ่มต้น หรือเกิดซ้ำๆ
1.Progressive continuous aspects จะมีคำว่า กำลัง อยู่ ตลอด
1.1 กำลังดำเนินอยู่
1.2 ดำเนินอยู่ต่อเนื่อง
เช่น She was sleeping.
1.3 เหตุการณ์เกิดขึ้นและจบลงอย่างรวดเร็ว แต่เกิดขึ้นซ้ำ ๆ
เช่น The boy is hitting my dog with a stick.
1.4 เหตุการณ์ที่ยังไม่เสร็จสิ้นสมบูรณ์
เช่น I am writing a book on global warming.
1.5 เหตุการณ์เกิดขึ้นชั่วคราว
เช่น She is living in London.
2.Perfective aspects จะมีคำว่า แล้ว เสร็จ เคย ได้
2.1 ใช้แสดงเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นแล้ว และมีความเชื่อมโยงกับเหตุการณ์หรือเวลาภายหลัง
เช่น The thief had run away, When the police arrived.
2.2 เหตุการณ์เกิดขึ้นแล้ว และยังดำเนินอยู่มาถึงปัจจุบัน
เช่น We have lived in Japan since last year.
2.3 เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นแล้วโดยมีระบุเวลาแน่ชัด แต่เกิดขึ้นอย่างน้อย 1ครั้งนับจนขณะปัจจุบัน
เช่น I have been to India before.
2.4 เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นแล้ว และยังส่งผลอยู่ในขณะปัจจุบัน
เช่น He has cut himself.

ข : ตอนที่ฉันเข้าไปในห้องนั่งเล่น สามีฉันดูข่าวจบแล้ว
A : When I went into the living room, my husband was watching news.
B : When I went into the living room, my husband had watched the news.
10.ศักดิ์สูบบุหรี่มานาน 30 ปี แต่เขาเลิกสูบบุหรี่แล้วเมื่อ 2 ปีก่อน
Sak had been smoking for 30 years but he gave up smoking 2 years ago.
11.เขาจะเอาหนังสือมาคืนเธอวันศุกร์
He will return the book to on Friday.
12.ฉันกำลังจะเริ่มงานใหม่อาทิตย์หน้า
I am going to start a new job next week.
Out class
1.อย่าโทรมาหาฉันช่วง 6 โมงถึงทุ่มหนึ่งนะ ฉันกำลังกินข้าวเย็นอยู่ตอนนั้น
Do not call me up at 6 pm. to 7 pm. I was having dinner at the time.
2.โทรมาหาฉันหลังทุ่มหนึ่งนะ ฉันกำลังกินข้าวเสร็จแล้วตอนนั้น
Calling me after 7 pm., I was finished eating at that time.
3.เมื่อเช้านี้ตอนเราไปถึงที่ทำงาน ก็พบว่ามีคนงัดเข้าไปในบริษัทตอนกลางคืน
